<p><strong>MIRI</strong> &#8211; The After School Project will held a training session this coming Friday for its current mentors and also for any adult interested in becoming a mentor.</p>
<p>The training session will be held from 6.30 pm to 8 pm on May 10  at Miri Waterfront Commercial Centre– 5th Floor, Wisma Interhill (brown marbled building right behind Maybank / next to Sarawak Plantation building).</p>

<p>The prize for best overall photo was awarded to Sales Coordinator of Unique Harvests Sdn Bhd, Tenya Thomas for her photo, &#8220;Earth is Our best legacy for our future generation&#8221; Miri, depicting a group of children swimming in a river. Photo &#8220;Peaceful Earth&#8221; Batang Ai, portraying a peaceful overlook of the Batang Ai river by Jasmani Mohamad Tahar of Pullman Kuching.</p>
<p>&#8220;Celebrating Earth Day by having a photo contest is just one of Interhill 365 Green Days activities which means that we are not appreciating and caring for earth only for a day but instead we do it every single day. Retouching of Photos:The submitted contest photograph cannot be significantly retouched: nothing in the photographs (people, animals, scenery, objects, etc.) may be altered, removed, augmented or rearranged. Cropping is permitted,as is modest darkening or lightening of parts of the image.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">9. By submitting photographs to the contest via email, entrants agree to grant the Company permission to print and display photographs. All photographs will be credited to the photographer.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify entries that do not conform to the stated rules and guidelines. <p>Mass services lead by Pastor Usek Laing and hosted by the respective community are upbeat as always as the parishioners sang, prayed and welcome each other to begin what many Christians around the world believe is the holiest week of the year. Every Mass Service in each village took around one hour and ended with light refreshments provided by Interhill, allowing all worshippers the opportunity to socialize with each other.</p>

<p>Interhill joined the millions of people in 152 countries supporting Earth Hour by switching off non essential lights of Wisma Interhill Miri.</p>
<p>Interhill Corporate Communications Manager , Agnes Nyelang believes that Earth Hour campaign will create a great  impact for the environment and at the same time encouraging others to do fun activities include having a candlelight dinner, not doing laundry and taking a walk in the neighbourhood.</p>
<p>“We want to make this as part of our traditional practices and it definitely is in line with our effort for the environment by designing business practices that provide customers with the ability to minimise their impact on the environment” said Agnes, mentioning on Interhill&#8217;s previous environmental awareness effort.</p>
<p>Within a day, Interhill has estimated saving a minimum of 330,000 watts overall electric reduction from Wisma Interhill Waterfront Commercial Centre Miri, and will continue to develop similar effort into business practices which encourage stakeholders to save on their carbon foot print.</p>
<p>Interhill also encourage employees and tenants to participate in Earth Hour at both work and home, by switching off lights and all non-essential electrical items, such as television, air conditioning, photocopiers and printers, not only for one hour but instead, throughout the day.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Interhill works together with the Sarawak Tipun Penan Development Association (PETIPUN) to realise not only the hopes and dreams of the younger generation, but also to provide continuing support to the development of Penan communities, with a vision to safeguard the future of the Penan communities through continuing education and learning.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Long Kawi, Ulu Baram Miri – Interhill gives RM8, 000 worth 170 bags of cement and a new generator set to Long Kawi of Ulu Baram, as part of its ongoing Joint-Community for Better Homes Project.  &#8220;We need more housing materials as we are now building more houses with better quality to fulfil our growing population&#8221; said Head village of Long Kawi, Satok Lawai when he receive the new batch of cements and a new generator set.  Interhill has also provided Long Kawi with a brand new generator set. The new generator set, received by Satok Lawai from Interhill Camp Manager, Ting Tiing Hie at Long Kawi, would now supplement the existing generator set, doubling the current electricity supply capacity for the entire village.  The joint community project is dedicated to build better homes for families of local communities, not only to Long Kawi, but also to the various villages in Upper Baram. Interhill&#8217;s contribution of building materials and mobilising heavy-duty for excavation along with manpower providence has been ongoing for the last decade. &#8220;This surely would not be Interhill&#8217;s final contributions, be rest assured that the contributions will continue, not only limited to Long Kawi but also to other villages surrounding our timber harvesting area&#8221; expressed Corporate communications manager of Interhill Group, Agnes Nyelang.  Interhill believes that in order to decrease poverty, the supply of decent housing and electricity is equally essential. Adequate housing is vitally important to the health of a community, yet the percentage of people without access to decent housing is rising globally.</p>
