27 February 2012 – Continuing on from the great success of previous 3 years, the Interhill-PETIPUN Scholarship/Grant for its 2012 intake is now open for application.
Interhill works hand-in-hand with the Sarawak Tipun Penan Development Association (PETIPUN) to realize not only the hopes and dreams of the younger generation, but also to provide continuing support to the development of Penan communities, with a vision to safeguard the future of the Penan communities through continuing education and learning.
Previous year, a grand total of nineteen (19) selected Penan students are being awarded scholarships and financial aids under the Interhill-PETIPUN Scholarship/Grant 2011.
Financial aids are being awarded to seven youths pursuing education at Kolej Yayasan Sabah, being Rita Simon from Long Belok, Leslie Isak from Long Spigen, Evinia Bulan Laman from Long Sait and Vivien Wan from Long Lunyim to pursue the Diploma in Information System, Steven Ajang from Long Iman and Nonie Nyaru from Batu Bungan Mulu to pursue the Diploma in Accounting and Brian Anyi from Long Lunyim to pursue the Diploma in Car Mechanical.
In the year of 2009, a special full scholarship was also awarded to Damaris Panai, a Penan girl from Baram who achieved excellent results in her SPM, in order to enable her to pursue and complete a course of her choice ie. Diploma in Accounting, at Segi College.
The Interhill-PETIPUN Scholarship/Grant is an action under the Interhill Education Initiative, an initiative established under the CSR division of Interhill Group, with the objective to provide aid and assistance to students and members of the community seeking to advance their current level of education onto a higher platform, especially for those located in the rural areas. In line with this, the Scholarship/Grant is open not only to those seeking assistance to enter higher institutes of learning, but also to those interested in part time or vocational courses.
The Interhill Education Initiative is yet another true demonstration of Interhill’s continued commitment to grow in such a way which focuses on supporting harmonious growth with the community.
The deadline for Year 2012 for application for the Interhill-PETIPUN Scholarship/Grant falls on 4th July 2012.
