INTERHILL WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM - Interhill to hold Women's Rights Talk and Workshop.

"Women's empowerment is a tremendous resource for social change." True to its belief in this statement, Interhill Group will be holding a Women's Rights Talk and Workshop for the villagers in the upper Baram area, together with the support of a local women's NGO.
The Workshop, after months of planning and coordination, is currently being scheduled to be held in mid August, and speakers and volunteers will be transported via a 8 hour ride to the villages, whereby they will spend 3 days holding talks and workshops at several different villages at the surrounding area, before taking another 8 hour ride back to Miri town.
The Women's Rights Talk and Workshop is part of the Interhill Women Empowerment Program. The Program seeks to primarily educate and create awareness amongst women of their rights, freedom and entitlement as women in a community. It seeks to focus of notions of self-worth and dignity, solidarity among women and bodily integrity, as well as creating awareness against gender based violence. It is hoped that the Program's focus on womenĄŻs empowerment would offer a pathway for the women in the said communities to challenge and change the contexts in which they live.
Participation at the Women's Rights Talk and Workshop is open to all. Refreshments and token gifts will be provided to all participants and all villagers in the surrounding areas are strongly urged to participate in the Workshop. Detailed dates and location will be posted shortly.
